“Is this vegan Mommy?”

March 6, 2012

Quick pic of Chloe snuggling with the boys with raspberry smoothie moustache.

As some of you know Chloe has been a pescetarian since birth.  I have recently taken part in a 6 week challenge to eat only a whole grain, plant based diet.  David also did this diet with me.  I have never felt so good and as a result, we have committed to stay on our healthy, vegan path (as much as we can) and make different food choices going forward.  Chloe has whole-heartedly thrown herself in by stealing all of the good soy yoghurts.  We recently invested in a fancy juicer/blender and every morning Chloe and I experiment with different made-up recipes.  Good thing is you can sneak kale etc in and she has no idea.  She does love flaxseed and is quite the little smoothie helper. Fav smoothie so far is blueberry, strawberry, pineapple, flaxseed and almond milk.  Fav juice is either apple or pepper, tomato and carrot.

Spring is here…in February!

February 24, 2012

House business has delayed blogging – my apologies.

Chloe has been busy with school, going on proper playdates (where I drop her off and run) and of course, very important Princess work.  The Princess obsession is definitely in our world.  Chloe wears her hand-me-down Sleeping Beauty dress every day and just LOVES all things remotely royal.  She is becoming so much more grown-up in so many ways.  Talking more at school to her teachers, writing her whole name, drawing people and definitely being a little less shy.  She is such a good girl and we are really enjoying going out to dinner more as a family, going to the theatre (David recently took her to see the Broadway production of Mary Poppins) and going on longer outings to Boston and Mystic.

This winter has been strangely warm and snow free (good news since we are still cooking outdoors).  Last weekend did bring a small snowstorm which left us with a foot or so of snow.  We were very giddy and rushed out with our sledges to the local slope.

Wicked fast snow chicks!

Chloe loved going fast down the hill but wasn't brave enough to go down herself

Of all the outfits Chloe owns, she selected a too small sleep suit to wear to the beach today teamed with sparkly boots, ballet headband and a hoodie - nice!

Nice pose - reminiscent of Auntie Rita?

Christmas Day was very relaxed this year with lovely homemade mince pies, a fab dinner and some wonderful pressies.

It even managed to snow mid-morning which made the day so special.

Christmas trees, sparkly lights, first trips to the Theatre and lots of crafts – we are definitely in a very festive mood!  A last minute and very exciting trip to England awaits Chloe and I.  A long list of house jobs and some well-deserved peace and quiet awaits David.
